“Isn’t that Ghirardelli?” he asked, as several people stepped out of the famous chocolate store.

“It’s one of them, yes. The one that everyone always goes to is down a bit farther, or down the stairs, if you go inside there,” I pointed, remembering how badly my feet had hurt the day we’d walked nearly every inch of the city in our quest to be the best damn tourists San Francisco had ever seen.

“You didn’t forget!” I exclaimed as we turned a corner and the huge lit up Ghirardelli sign filled up my vision.  

“Of course I didn’t. When my woman demands chocolate— I deliver.”  

Jumping into his arms right there in the middle of the street, I wrapped my arms around him like a lovesick teenager and said,

“My hero.”

 He’d always be my hero.

“So, do you want to stop in and get something?” he asked, pausing by the entrance.

I looked up at the sign, just barely visible at this angle and then back down at him. Closing my eyes briefly, I shook my head.

“No,” I answered. “I think we’ve relived enough today.”

And then I walked away.

He was my hero, no longer.

When his eyes lock on mine, I swear they penetrate straight to my soul. He walks towards me, stealthy as a cat, with a look of hunger on his face. A hunger I’ve never seen direct towards me. He stops directly in front of me, his hard breath a slight pant against my face. His eyes devour me from head to toe, causing a flood of wetness to soak my panties.

What is it about the way he looks at me? So intense, intoxicating, consuming. As if I’m the only woman he can see, and he can’t wait to sink his teeth into me.

My body is alive, fully charged and ready. My panties were rendered useless the moment my eyes look upon on his steel gray ones. I’m barely able to breathe, but somehow I lack the concern or the care. Being with this man, right here, right now, is my purpose.

Goose bumps cover my body the moment he touches me. It’s the slightest of touches; him grazing his pinky down my exposed arm, from my shoulder to my wrist. His touch seers my skin, branding me in a bold statement of declaration. It’s as if he’s claiming me as his own with just this one simple touch. A touch that I crave more than my next breath of air.

Decisively, he steps forward, his mouth a mere whisper away from my own. I watch, helplessly, as he leans in just the tiniest bit. He’s going to kiss me. Finally.

Just before his lips touch mine, he pins me with a look of pure lust and proclamation. I can see my own desire reflected in his eyes. It’s a statement. A claim.

“Mine,” he growls seconds before his lips slam into mine.

I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I have 2 older sisters and amazing parents. Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl, hanging out with him in the garage, fishing, and building stuff. I loved to play softball and swimming, but reading, telling stories, and writing were my passion, even at a young age. I took a break from writing for a while, but you could always find me with a book in my hand.
I have three children – two boys and a girl. They are my whole world. Even when I’m having the worst day ever, they brighten up my day and make me smile.
A few years ago, there was this story that would always play out in my head and no matter how many times I went through it, from beginning to end, it would never fade. So I decided to put it on paper. I didn’t plan on publishing it, but when it was almost done, a friend asked to read it. She said it was a story that needed to be shared. And that’s what started my writing career.
I love all genres of books, and even though I started with writing MC Romance, I have a whole book of ideas, so you can expect more from me than just MC, though romance is in my blood.

She made another quick scan of the perimeter. She squinted. There’s someone over there. Nic didn’t move or act as though she saw that person, who was probably a tourist out for a long walk along the beach—close to the reeds, standing still.

Nope. Red alarm. Something was wrong. Shit. Okay.

Never one to give up her cover, she stretched, and with faux-carefree laziness, watched another wave, eyeballing the figure in her peripheral vision, before slowly making her way inside.

As soon as the door clicked shut, she moved boots, running from one side of the house to the next. There was nothing like a Jared Westin beach house to keep things armed and dangerous. She hit the master bedroom, slamming to a slowdown, tiptoeing around a sleeping Cash, and grabbed the binoculars.

What else did she need? Hell, right now she was on a fact-finding mission. Back around the bed, and she was—

“Freeze.”

Shit. Nicola turned around to face her very awake­ husband. “Yeah?”

“What are you up to?”

“Had to get something.” And in a freakin’ hurry. “Go back to sleep.”

“What?”

“Binoculars.”

“Why?” He hadn’t bothered to open his eyes or move.

“Jeez. Bird watching. Can I go now?”

Cash turned his head and opened his eyes. “Lie to me again, and see what happens.”

Oh boy. “Go back to sleep.”

“You ran through the house like you were up to something.”

“I’ll explain later.” Telling him now would make his head explode, and that’d be bad for recovery and all. “My bird watching is time sensitive. Grill me later. Please?”

His eyes narrowed. “You have the Spidey senses too.” He pushed out of bed, feeling along the side of the nightstand until he retrieved a Glock 9.

“Cash Garrison!”

He stood up, pausing for what had to be a second longer than his old norm. “Let’s go.”

“The doctor said no loud noise, no percussive forces. He stipulated no gunfire.”
